"Yes"

Many educators feel the answer is yes! If you have a Sensei/Teacher that gets involved with their students; asks the right questions of the students and listens to the answers and if you have a Sensei that challenges the students to rise and maintain a high standard in life, then the answer is “YES” !
The Sensei must also provide an environment that demands:

I am always pleasantly surprised when a parent comes in and signs their child up after one of the local teachers, childcare teachers or doctors has recommended
Buick's Karate Dojo.

I usually ask two questions:
Who recommended Buick's Karate Dojo to you?
and
Why did they recommend Buick's Karate Dojo?

The answer to both questions usually goes something like this. "My child's teacher, childcare teacher or doctor recommend you because they are working with a child that is having a great deal of success through the disciplined environment
​that you create at your club."

The truth is that I am very aware why we would be recommended.
​Many Karate clubs have very little discipline and structure. That's where
​Buick's Karate Dojo is different. We are highly discipline and structured.

Sensei Tony Sinopoli
High School Teacher and Ni Dan (2 Dan) - Shorin Ryu

Let me introduce you to my friend and training partner for over 26 years, Sensei Sinopoli. He was a high school teacher and he truly believed in education as a requirement to have a great life. Sensei Sinopoli would spend his personal time with his students as they exited high school to prepare them for university. Sensei Sinopoli put in a great fight against cancer and unfortunately succumbed to it.

Education is a big deal at Buick's Karate Dojo. Awards have always been given out every year in July after report cards are received by the students. If the present year’s report card is better the previous year the student will receive an Okinawan Try Blade Crest (The crest in the picture with the Sensei Sinopoli’s belt) that will be worn on the student’s uniform in recognition of their efforts.

In recognition of my friend Sensei Sinopoli as a great teacher and his excellence in educating this award is the called the Sensei Sinopoli Award at Buick's Karate Dojo and they are given out every year to keep his memory alive.
