Traditional Martial Arts Programs
All of our programs surpass the goals set out by the Ministry of Health on Quality Daily Fitness!
All of our programs are a minimum of one hour classes. Some are an hour and a half to two!
Karate Program
(Includes Self-defence and Bully-defence)
Karate uses powerful hand strikes, blocks and kicks as a means of self-defence, self-discipline, spiritual growth and physical conditioning. Karate develops the mind, body and spirit and encourages a balance of knowledge, strength and honesty. Karate simply means the art of "Empty Hand".
It describes the techniques of fighting with the body's natural weapons.

As there are many different languages in the world it is the same when it comes to Martial Arts. We offer a blend of two styles of Karate that are both rooted in Okinawa. Shorin Ryu means "Small Pine Tree Way/Style". Goju Ryu means “Hard Soft Way/Style”. This is important to know as at the time of the inception of these two styles the people of Okinawa were not allowed by their governing country to have any metal implement/weapons and/or allowed to practice any Martial Arts. This being the case they had to develop very effective and skillful Martial Arts to enable them to defend themselves, from an armed adversary. This is why these two Martial Arts can still be found being practiced all over the world today.
Our self-defence program is incorporated into our Karate classes. Any good self-defence requiring physical force has one or all of the following in it: Aikido, Ju-Jitsu and Karate. We also teach a host of verbal queues and techniques required to draw attention to your circumstance and also panic the attacker, particularly in the case of young kids. We provide Gun and Knife disarming self-defence and this would include Canadian Army, British Army, USA Commando and Krav Mega defensive strategies. We believe that being a Martial Artist is not just learning to kick and punch, it is about becoming the best person that you can be. Buick's Karate is an all-encompassing program with basics at every level, Katas, Sparing and Self-defence. |

Ju-Jitsu Program
(Aiki Ju-Jitsu – Daito Ryu)
Our Ju-Jitsu program is a Japanese style going back almost 900 years, developed between 1045 and 1127. This is the translation for Aiki Ju-Jitsu - Aikido (Translation - The Way of Peace and Harmony), Ju-Jitsu (Translation - Gentle/Compliant Technique). We believe that it is necessary to have some background in Ju-Jitsu today with the growing amount of Ju-Jitsu practitioners. This is also one of the requirements of our Black belts.

Kobudo Program
(Ancient Okinawan Weapons)
Our Kobudo (Ancient Okinawan Weapons)
classes provide training in the proper use of all weapons.
The weapons that we train in are the Kubotan, Bo, Tonfa, Sai, Jo, Knife
and Escrima also known as Arnis/Kali/Tonbo (double sticks).
These programs provide a unique opportunity for all ages to learn a variety of "Life Skills" and provide "Family Strengthening" through common practice. We have many family members that train together with each other and it truly promotes a sense of harmony both inside and outside the Karate club as well as at home. Siblings can work on Karate together at home and help each other advance through their gradings.
Fitness and Weight Loss
All of the programs that we provide by their nature will affect
your health, fitness level and in turn provide/cause weight loss.
The big extra in our program that you won't get in a fitness or weight loss program
is you will also learn how to defend yourself !
We have an example in our club of a boy that after a month of training lost approximately 20 lbs. Shortly after, a lady joined the club and a few months later she had lost 35 lbs. !
This lady was the boy's mom ! The list goes on !

The key to all of the above is NO Magic, NO Pills, NO Machines.
Just believe that you can do it !
